Cooking with Miss Boo

So to add a little more about myself (incase you aren't one of my Facebook friends who's news feed I was flooding), my name is crystal but I am more commonly known as crittle :)
I'm a mum and a recentlyish new one... I have two kids, miss boo who recently turned 2, and bee two who will be 1 this month... I also run a little Facebook business called miss boo and bee two. Totally not food related :)

So on this rainy saturday afternoon whilst miss boo and bee two had their synchronized arvo nap, I read my friends blog (misadventures of a sahm) and looked at the great fun (and mess) that her and Miss S get into... An it inspired me to do some cookin with Miss Boo...

So I ask her what shall we cook.

Her response. Chocolate. Well since I don't have a cocoa tree growing in the backyard and we are not going on a Dora style adventure to pick some from the chocolate tree I compromise to chocolate biscuits...

We each made our own batch. Mine were chocolate biscuits with white choc chips. Miss boo chose hundreds and thousands and rainbow choc chips.

I followed the recipe. Miss Boo got creative. And damn did her biscuits taste awesome! They are a short walk down sugar street to sickly sweet city but I was so pleasantly impressed I proceeded to add hundreds and thousands to mine ;)

Recipe is:
Beat 125g soft butter with 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/3 cup caster sugar
Add one teaspoon vanilla bean paste
Then mix 1 1/2 cups sr flour and 1/2 cup cocoa... Mix it all good and throw in whatever additions you wish. I highly suggest hundreds and thousands!!!
Spoon dessert spoon size portions onto a tray lined with baking paper and Bake at 160 for 12 mins or so

Anyhow just a quick one from me this afternoon, we are off to lizottes to see Troy Cassar-Daley! :) it also means my MIL gets some yummy cookies to eat with her cuppa while she watches the kidlets!

We'll be back soon with Bee Two's birthday and the mess two sisters can cause in my tiny kitchen!

See you soon at the no mofos my kitchen!

Luv crittle xx

What a Shocker!

Geez! it's been a month since my last post and i haven't introduced you to any of my fabulous (in my opinion) cooking!

So here is one of my most recent projects...

I was asked to bake an engagement cake for some good friends... They wanted bright and funky! and here is the result... I learnt a bit from this cake ;)

The cake was just your basic butter cake, with cream and jam filling... the icing is buttercream icing (you'd better like butter if you plan on eating this cake!

I used a #104 tip that I purchased last minute from the fabulous Vanessa at Sugar Rush who is probably one of the most friendly and helpful people i have dealt with in retail in a while! considering i spent a whole $3.95 she was super helpful by answering my questions. The #104 tip pretty much enabled me to do this

The cake was a hit (thank god! I was sooooo bloody nervous!)

And just quickly, here is a pic of my recent birthday cake (that yes, i had to bake myself!)
It was a triple deck mud cake... white choc mud, caramel mud, and chocolate mud... sickly sweet, but gosh it tasted good! I was a mud cake cook virgin, so from this i learnt, home made mud cake tastes best on day 2/3 (i made it at 9pm-1am Friday and it tasted awesome on Sunday!)

Anyhow, that's it from me this week!

Coming up next week.... my home made peppersteak pie, which the recipe appears to be popular from the east coast to the west coast!

And remember any thing you'd like to see me attempt, just comment below! In April i will be (hopefully) doing a rapunzel/tangled cake, and in March Bee Two is turning one with a cookie monster theme party! Lots of action coming up in the No Mofo's kitchen!

And so it begins!

So one of my biggest concerns these days, is that there isn't enough people who know how to cook... Sounds stupid, but there are many of my friends who are just amazed that I can bake a cake.... FROM SCRATCH!

Gone are the days of a regular Sunday Roast, and just yummy home cooked goodness!

So as a kinda new mum, i am documenting my journey and sharing the easy to cook recipes with anyone that somehow manages to stumble across my blog!

So now to figure out what is on the menu tonight x

Suggestions are always welcome! ;)
